Abel Kent’s tombstone is made of white marble. By the early 1800s quarries made white marble available and affordable. It was easy to carve, texture, and add three-dimensional images reflecting the sentimental memorials of Victorian times. Kent’s stone shows a carved hand with one finger pointing towards heaven.
