35. Captain Thomas Stoddard

Stoddard was a deep sea captain who commanded the schooner Juno during his career. He bravely served in the War of 1812 and later worked as a Lieutenant for the U.S. Revenue Marine, an organization similar to the Coast Guard, for 18 years. Captain Stoddard was a descendant of one of the earliest settlers of Cohasset and served Cohasset as a selectman from 1851 to 1852 and a state representative from 1850 to 1852. He resided on North Main Street in a house built by his grandfather, Thomas Beal. Captain Stoddard passed away on March 28, 1954.
