Seafaring
Location: Plot 456

Philip Fox captained various vessels on multiple voyages between Liverpool and Boston. He was known as "a driver of ships and men" because he never lost a single spar or crewman. In 1819, Fox set the fastest trip on record between Liverpool, England, and Boston, accomplishing it in 17 days. He broke that record in a subsequent voyage, landing 16 days after leaving England. Upon arrival, Fox dramatically tossed a packet of London newspapers onto the dock, showing his departure date.
